Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon minced onion (or onion powder)
  • 1/2 tablespoon poppy seeds (optional)
  • 1 12 roll package Sweet Hawaiian Rolls
  • 1 pound thinly sliced honey glazed ham (can use the kind that's already sliced in the package or sliced from the deli)
  • 12 slices swiss cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a small saucepan, add the butter and melt completely. Add the honey, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and minced onion, then stir until melted and warm.
  • Spray a light coating of baking spray onto the bottom of an 11x9 or 13x9 inch baking dish.
  • Take the rolls out of the package and slice the tops off of each roll. The rolls do not need to be seperated, but if they seperate while cutting them, it's fine.
  • Add the bottom half of the rolls to the baking dish.
  • Add 1/2 the sliced honey glazed ham to the rolls, then add the slices of cheese and top the cheese with the remaining sliced ham.
  • Add the top half of the rolls.
  • Pour the butter mixture over the rolls, then sprinkle with the poppy seeds. Sandwiches can be baked immediately, or they can be covered in plastic wrap and kept in the refrigerator to bake later. They can be stored like this from 1 hour up to overnight, then baked.
  • To bake, cover the dish with foil and bake at 350 degrees F for about 20-25 minutes.
  • Once baked, set on a cooling rack for about 15 minutes. Use a knife to slice into individual sandwiches.
  • These are best served warm.

Notes

*You can use any deli meat or cheese you prefer.
These sandwiches can be stored for an hour or two at room temperature, but should then be stored, covered well in an airtight container, in the refrigerator for up to two days. Leftover sandwiches can be eaten chilled, at room temperature, or warm. Be careful if microwaving as the bread can harden if microwaved for too long.
