Making this cake, requires no complex kitchen gadgets, not even an electric mixer, which makes it super easy and quick to make. The only hard part is waiting for the cake to cool down a little before you eat it.

Easy Chocolate Pudding Cake
Ingredients
For the cake layer:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ cup milk
- 3 tablespoons melted butter, cooled down a bit
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the chocolate pudding layer:
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup packed light brown sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ¼ cup very hot water
Instructions
For the cake layer:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and spray an 8×8 or 9×9 inch baking dish with non-stick baking spray.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and cocoa powder.
- Stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined. (You don’t need an electric mixer for this.)
- Spread the batter evenly into the baking dish. Set aside (do not bake yet) while you mix up the chocolate pudding.
For the chocolate pudding layer:
- In a separate bowl, mix the granulated sugar, the brown sugar, salt and the two tablespoons cocoa powder.
- Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the batter in the baking dish.
- Pour the hot water over the entire mixture. Do not stir; just let it sit.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes. The top will still be a little jiggly.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for 30-40 minutes on a cooling rack, so that the pudding will thicken under the cake. It needs to sit and cool for a bit so that the pudding will thicken or it could be too runny.
- Spoon into a bowl and serve warm. Ice cream or whipped cream can also be added.
